Project Description:

The German social law binds the legal right of those with public health insurance to receive medical services to the clinical significance of their illness. However, according to medical theory and philosophical discussions on the topic, the meaning of "disease" is not quite clear. The project pursues the question of how the legal meaning of the concept of illness should be ethically evaluated. To this end, various strands of medical, ethical and social discussions are brought together and analyzed.
